Wi-fi 6e Officially Arrives in France

After the adoption of Wi-Fi 6 in 2020, it is now Wi-Fi 6E which is gradually arriving in France. The legal provisions necessary for its operation were published Belgium WhatsApp Number in the Official Journal on December 1 (decision taken on October 14, 2021), and the deployment of the technology has already begun since compatible routers are available for purchase.

What Is Wifi 6e?

The latest generation of Wi-Fi to date, Wi-Fi 6E (with an E which stands for extended ) follows on from Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 4… As its predecessors, it is a massively use technology to connect a large number of devices to each other. The best-known example of all is that of a box which allows the inhabitants of a household. To connect their compatible electronic devices (desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, television, video game console, etc.), and thus to surf on the Internet with.

The particularity of Wi-Fi 6E is that. It will be on a new portion of the radio spectrum call the 6 GHz band. The slice allocated to it is located between 5,945 MHz and 6,425 MHz (i.e. 480 MHz). This frequency band will be divided into 6 channels of 80 MHz and 3 channels of 160 MHz, which should make it possible to unclog the densest populated areas.

As a reminder, the Wi-Fi that we currently know is located on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, and coexists with other microwaves or with technologies such as Bluetooth.

Why Open a Third Frequency Band?

There are several reasons behind the opening of this new frequency band. Indeed, Wi-Fi 6E should make it possible to relieve the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands which are starting. To be relatively busy. The higher position of the 6 GHz band in the spectrum also allows it to claim higher speeds (11 Gb/s in theory, a little less in reality).

This openness should help to better distribute users across frequency bands according to their devices and their needs. Thus, Internet users who do not need a large amount of bandwidth. Will  more easily redirected to the 2.4 GHz band, where those with large needs can use the 6 GHz band.
